Mixed media candle holder and soldering madness

Hi,
This weekend I was busy like a bee, working, working, working!!! Hehehe!
My dear friend Cristina Zinia at http://zinniasart.blogspot.com/, has a new lovely site http://rosesonmytable.ning.com/, where she and other wonderful artists share their passion for art. She has very interesting workshops, some of them for free. If you have a minute, take your cup of coffee or tea and go and have a look at her beautiful creations and you'll not be disappointed! She is a little magician, that's what she is, look at what she inspired me to make, after I watched "Zinia's spell bottle" video, one of her free workshops out there.

And some details here:

The candle holder's size is 5 3/4"x 3 3/4" and I used tissue paper, acrylics, inks, cotton bandage, collage paper, glitter, Stewart Gill fresco flakes, beads and lace. I have soldered the top and added some other soldered bits on which I put a copper patina and then I varnished the whole lot.
The text is stamped with Stazon ink and says: "whispers of the garden...".
Hope you'll like it!

Thanks for you visit!

Have a wonderful Sunday afternoon, lots of love,
Sanda xx

Big jewellry box

Hi,
I've just finished this jewellry box and I am so pleased with the result! The tutorial for the box and the measurements I found them on Kirsten Aune's blog, http://min-hobbyblogg.blogspot.com/. She has some very interesting and beautiful things out there.
It's a 6" square box with 4 drawers. The top and bottom are cut from painting board and the little drawers are watercolor paper. I have used gesso, snow paste ( a kind of modeling paste) and cotton bandage for texture, inks, Stewart Gill acrylics, UTEE, metal charm, rhinestones, wire and heart glass bead. The stamped image is made out of polymer clay, painted and coated with clear UTEE. The wings are made from wire and cotton bandage, painted and embelished with Fresco flakes from Stewart Gill.
Hope you'll like it.

And some details here:

Now, I just need to make some jewellry for it, right? LOL

Thanks for your visit and beautiful comments,

Lots of love, Sanda xx

Hi ladies,
Do you know Esther and her fantastic work at http://lilibulle-illusions.blogspot.com/ ? If you don't know her yet, please take a few minutes and check her blog and I promise you won't regret it! She is a wonderful, super talented  french artist, with a big and warm heart and  beautiful, creative spirit. Each of her jewellery, created in her unique, fabulous style is a work of art in itself.
And to celebrate the opening of her Etsy shop she is having a giveaway! A superb piece, that, I'm sure will make you want to see more!

How cool and generous is that?
She has gorgeous stuff on her Etsy and I must confess I already bought some lovely, very old french coins, that I can't wait to use in my projects!

Congrats and the best of good fortune, sweet Esther!

Thank you for your visit,
Lots of love,

Small art square and new challenge

Hi,
This is a small art square ( 4 1/4") I made for Les Katzmania(ques) challenge at http://leskatzmaniaques.blogspot.com/. For this week we were asked to make a project using paper beads. You can go and see a SUPER tutorial made by Isabelle Juin on her blog,http://isasart.blogspot.com/#Label1  and discover this wonderful french artist and her fabulous work.
For this art square I have used watercolor paper, inks, stamps, tissue paper, acrylics, metal charm, fibers, clock hands, UTEE, wires, metal chain and of course, paper beads. The Mona Lisa image is stamped on the same paper I made for making the beads.
So here is my entry.
And here some details.

Thanks for your visit and for all your kind and warm comments,
Lots of love,

Something new

Hi everyone,
I have just finished the piece I was working on and I'm ready to post it as I promised. It's another house I made for the challenge Dans ma maison il y a... http://dansmamaisonilya.blogspot.com/. This week the theme was " a school boy/girl".
The idea for this project was born when I started to read Laurie Mika's book Mixed Media Mosaics (which I recommend  with all my heart, it's really AMAZING!!!). I was dying to try what I was learning and the chance came with this new challenge.
I must say I worked very hard to finish it on time and I had my moments of doubt( many!!! LOL) and even fear that I would not be able to succeed., or that it would not turn up the way I wanted. But I remembered what Van Gogh said, that if you hear a voice within you saying "you cannot paint" then, by all means paint and the voice will be silenced. I didn't give up and now I'm really happy with the result. And the voice was silenced indeed. thank God! LOL
So, here is my entry for this week's challenge!
And here in detail.

The house measures 6 1/2"x 9 3/4". I made the little tiles using polymer clay and then stamped, painted them with Stewart Gill acrylics, varnished and mounted them on a piece of wood. I have used also tissue paper, stamps, inks, rubons, metal charms, rhinestones and beads, collage paper, gel medium and UTEE. The frame Is made from a piece of grungeboard and then covered with UTEE.
I hope you'll like it! :)

Thanks for your visit and for your precious comments! They mean a lot to me!

Lots of love,

A bit of clay

Hi,
Just a quick post today to show you what I was playing with  in the last few days. I'm still working on something a bit similar, but much bigger that I hope I'll be able to post  in a day or two.
I worked in a 2"x2.5" piece of polymer clay, stamping and painting it, make a little space in center to attach the collage bit, attached frame and beads. The bead is made with wires and Basic Grey fibers. Varnished the clay with Laque de finition Brillante.

Thank you for your visit and for your nice comments,
