Birthday wishes card and Guardian Angel finished work

Hi,

This week at Friday Sketchers http://fridaysketchersblog.blogspot.com/ the challenge sketch was offered by Jeanette from Canada.
Here is my entry.

I used 6"x6" red cardstock, designer paper from Graphic 45, stamps from Penny Black, Magnolia and SU, inks from SU, Spellbinders nestabilities, label punch from SU, flowers from Prima, ribbon and dazzling diamonds glitter from SU.

And now, I would like to share with all of you, my friends, my last mixed media titled Guardian Angel. I am really happy how it turned up.
And two close ups.

The size of the wood is 12"x15". I used acrylic paints( heavy body and fluid) and Neocolor II watersoluble crayons. For the texture on the wings I used tissue paper "melted" in glue and then I shaped it like feathers and painted over when it was dry. For the halo I worked the paint (mixed with a bit of Golden molding paste) with a palette knife to give more texture. I gilded then the wings and the halo using Perfect Pearls and Florentine Treasure Gold non-tarnishing wax gilt.
I stamped the house and heart in clay and then cut the shapes and painted them with acrylics. The swirls are printed in gesso with a stamp that I carved in lino.
Thank you for your visit and for all your beautiful, warm comments.
Hugs,
Sanda xx

Guardian Angel- work in progress

Hi,

I know I didn't post for a while, but I was very busy lately.
On one hand I'm just taking one of Monica Zuniga workshops on http://handsandheart.ning.com/. The workshop is absolutely fantastic and Monica is an amazing artist and a wonderful teacher! Have a look on the website and, believe me, you will not be disapointed!
On the other hand, I discovered recently a fabulous art book called Taking Flight by Kelly Rae Roberts, an incredibly tallented artist! The book is definitely a must have for any artist! If you didn't hear yet about the book or about Kelly and her wonderful artistic journey, then maybe it's worthwhile to have a look at her beautiful blog http://www.kellyraeroberts.blogspot.com/, or at http://takingflight.ning.com/, an artist group which defines itself as "A group to share our journey through mixed media artist Kelly Rae Roberts' amazing book Taking Flight."
I started working, inspired by the very interesting techniques discovered in this challenging book and here is my, unfinished yet, mixed media on wood called Guardian Angel.

Thank you for your visit,
Hugs,
Sanda xx
